DORIS LOUISE MILLIKEN
Doris Louise Milliken, born in Ft. Scott, Kansas, on August 26, 1924, was called home to heaven on February 25, 2011. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Doris graduated from Huntington Park High School in Huntington Park, CA, where she was involved in many musical & theatrical productions. Doris was a dancer with the USO during WWII and was one of the first female department store managers, managing Gilbert's Variety Store in Los Angeles. It was in this variety store that she met Harley V. Milliken, from Williamsburg, Kansas. They married in 1944. Doris was an active member of the Soroptimists, a successful manager for Tupperware Home Parties, and the founder of Milliken Uniform Shops. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley, and sister, Harriet Thomas. She is survived by her children: Mitzie Joy Milliken (Eric Rajala), Harley Robin (Jackie) Milliken, and Wendy Louise (Brian) Sandmoen; grandchildren, Meghann (Sam) Leintz, Joe Milliken, Alex Sandmoen, and Sloane Sandmoen; and great grandson, Wyatt Samuel Leintz; niece, Hety (T.J.) Howard and Daniel Thomas (Thomas Sowell). Doris is now reunited with Harley, her sweetheart and the love of her life, in heaven.
