Doris Maxine Brownback Erhart, 91, of Stilwell, KS, passed away October 31, 2010 in Boise, Idaho. Doris was born to William Henry and Josie Brownback, April 16, 1919, the youngest of seven children near Centerville (Linn County --- near Mound City, Kansas). In 1937, Doris married the handsome Cliff Erhart whose family lived a few miles away. Their honeymoon trip was to Kansas City, Kansas, where Cliff had a job working in a Safeway Warehouse. In 1944, they rented a farm near Gardner, and in 1948 they moved to a 480 acre farm jokingly referred to as a rock pile-on, 191st street, two miles west of Metcalf. In 1954, they purchased 80 acres at 191st and Antioch where they lived until Cliff died in 2004. Cliff and Doris joined the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in 1938. They were very active in their church, first in Kansas City, Kansas, and then charter members of the New Haven Church in Overland Park. They were founding members of Shawnee Mission Hospital. Generosity and genuine interest in the welfare of others was the hallmark of Cliff and Doris's lives. This unselfishness made them truly loved and respected by friends, neighbors, and countless individuals throughout their lives. Doris authored many poems with two copyrighted books depicting childhood years in rural Kansas and life on their 191st and Antioch farm. Doris is survived by a brother, Leo; her four sons: Milt, Wayne, Lee, Stan; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, hosts of relatives and friends. Doris now awaits the resurrection morning and the return of her Savior. Services will be at D. W. Newcomer's, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 11. Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 10, at the funeral home.
