Dorothy Burdin (born Dorothy Dillman) died on March 27, 2007, at Brighton Gardens in Prairie Village, KS.
Dorothy was married to Harlan N. Burdin who pre-deceased her in 1976. She is survived by her niece Diane Petro and her niece Joyce Huston and husband G. Winton Huston. Great nephews and niece are Soren Petro, his wife Lyn and their daughter Brooke; G.W. Huston II, his wife Barbara and their children Kelsey, George III, and Sarah, and Michon Huston.
Dorothy was born in 1906 and grew up in Newton, KS. She lived and worked in the Wichita, KS area during World War II, before coming to this area. She retired from a career with American Safety Tank Company. She and her husband had been world travelers - once taking a 9-month world tour. She continued to enjoy world travel all of her life. She was City Treasurer for Fairway, KS for 40 years. She was the elected Republican precinct committee woman for Ward 2, Fairway, for several decades and had been an officer in the Johnson County Republican Party and served on District and State Committees. She was a member of The Kansas City Rose Society and always loved flowers in her garden and yard. She will be remembered by her friends for her ready smile, gentle spirit and welcoming heart.
There will be a memorial service on Friday March 30, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210.
