Dorothy Gerba Coburn, 80, Overland Park, KS, passed away on Nov. 8, 2009 at Kansas City Hospice House. She was born in Kansas City, KS, on May 17, 1929 to Nicholas and Danica Gerba. Dorothy graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1948 and spent several years working in commercial banking prior to her marriage in 1958. Outside of her family, to whom she was completely dedicated, she loved working at her Church preparing bakery items for their annual bazaar, quilting, an rug hooking. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Don Coburn; daughter, Dana Dunlap of Overland Park; step-daughter, Ginger Coburn of Austin, TX; sisters, Helen Stonestreet of DeSoto, KS, Mel Tahan of San Diego, CA, Louise Richardson and Beverly Douglas, both of Overland Park; brother, Robert Gerba, of Bell Garden, CA; as well as many nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald, Joe, and Pete Gerba; a sister, Mary Conley, and her beloved son, Ronald Charles Coburn. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Nov. 12, St. George Siberian Orthodox Church, 11000 Greenwood, Lenexa, KS 66215. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11, at D. W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church Building Fund, Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114, or the charity of your choice.
