Dorothy G. Stewart, age 87, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Park Meadows Retirement Community. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 22nd at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 21st at the Johnson County Chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hillcrest Christian Church, 11411 Quivira Road, Overland Park, KS 66210.
Dorothy was born on April 9, 1921 in Sedalia, MO to George E. and Beulah M. (Rutter) Mahin. She was married to Kenneth Stewart on October 6, 1945. Dorothy was a member of Hillcrest Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing and reading. Dorothy loved to cook, especially her family’s favorite cheese cake and play pinochle.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Claudia Stewart. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth M. Stewart; son, James Stewart and his wife, Sheri Stewart, of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Amy Tollefson and her husband, Troy Tollefson, and Shannon Wilson and her husband, Josh Wilson; great grandchildren, Katelyn Tollefson and James Wilson; and sister, Mary McMullin, of Duncan, OK.
