Dorothy Lee Hassler Timmerberg, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on January 2, 2013 at the age of 85. She was the devoted partner of Paul Miller Timmerberg for 59 years, before his death in 2008. She was also the beloved mother of Paul Douglas Timmerberg of Porter, TX, Debra Ann Blanton of Liberty, MO, John Edward Timmerberg of Overland Park, KS, and James Mark Timmerberg of New City, NY.
Dorothy was the only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Franklin Hassler, Jr. of Montgomery City, Missouri. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her only brother, James Franklin Hassler, III.
Dorothy spent her formative years in Montgomery City, Missouri where she enjoyed life in the close knit community. She was an excellent student and participated in various school activities including band and cheerleading.
Dorothy married her childhood sweetheart, Lt. Paul M. Timmerberg on March 9, 1949 in Montgomery City, Missouri. Paul was a career soldier and they spent 35 years in the Army. While Paul served his country, Dorothy was the perfect Army wife and loving Christian mother. Her volunteer jobs at various Army Posts and overseas assignments included American Red Cross Chairman, the Board for Spouse and Children Abuse, German-American Ladies Club, Army Community Service, and Thrift Shop. She was also a member of Daughter's of the American Revolution (D.A.R.)
Dorothy is survived by her children and their spouses, Doug (Michele), Debbie (Wes), John (Kelly), Mark (Jean); grandchildren, Carla, Jessica, Erica, Brooke, Ben, Matt, Brett, Amanda, Kelsey, Trevor, Brady, and Jack; and great-grandchildren, Erin, Grace, Madeleine, Kate, Parker, Alexandra, Nora, and Jack.
