Dorris M. (Garrett) Cook, age 82, of Kansas City, MO passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010. Visitation will be from 1-2:00 P.M. on Friday, July 23rd followed by funeral services at 2:00 P.M. at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Entombment in Johnson County Memorial Gardens Courtyard of Memories. Dorris was born on June 10, 1928 in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Northeast High School and attended Kansas City Junior College. She married her childhood sweetheart, Jim, in March 1946. Initially, Dorris worked for the law firm of Stinson-Magg. She then spent 28 years at Kansas City Life Insurance Co. where she retired as Executive Secretary for the Senior VP, Agency Services. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Irene Garrett; her husband, James L. Cook and sister, Ruby Warren. Survivors include her sons, Steven Cook (Ellen) and Gregory Cook (Martha)); grandchildren, Heather Ohler (Dean), Jennifer Ramsey (Gary), James Cook (Amanda) and John Cook; great grandchildren, Samantha Ramsey, Joshua Ramsey, Steven Ramsey, Angel Cook, Gregory Edwards-Cook, Colton Edwards and Jamie Ohler (Merry).
