Dr. Alfred Otto Rueb, age 97, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018.
Alfred was born on August 14, 1920 in St. Francis, KS. He attended the University of Colorado and the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry, where he received his dental degree. He served as a dental officer in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
After the war, he practiced dentistry in downtown Kansas City, MO for 53 years and served as a part-time professor at the University of Missouri dental school for 35 years.
He served as President of the following organizations:
Greater Kansas City Dental Association
University of Missouri in Kansas City Dental Alumni Association
Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a local honorary dental fraternity chapter
Kansas City Dental Veterans Clinic Club
He was named Alumnus of the Year of the University Dental Alumni Association.
He also farmed after he retired from dentistry and enjoyed helping his brother, Marlin, run the combines.
Alfred is survived by his children, Dr. Steve Rueb (Anne) and Suzy Wellinghoff (Dan); grandchildren: Daniel Rueb, Paul Rueb, Tasha Bockleman (Joel), Sarah Quinn and Madison Wellinghoff; great grandchildren, Skylar, Savannah and Gage.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Veterans Assistance League, Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, 1300 Veterans Rd., Warrensburg, MO, 64093.
Memorial service will be at 1 PM on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, OP, KS. Reception to follow.
