On Tuesday, February 18, 2020, Dr. Mike Mostafa Modaress, a loving husband and father of two children, passed away at age 79.
Dr. Modaress was born on October 26, 1940 in Shiraz, Iran. After migrating to the US in 1978, Dr. Modaress received his Master’s followed by his PhD from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, 1989. He was a Professor with an Administrative role within Pittsburg State University’s Technology Center. Dr. Modaress and his wife, Mary (Azam), raised two daughters, Nellie (Niloufar) and Magnolia.
Dr. Modaress had a passion for computers and photography and loved to be surrounded by his family. He was also an avid music lover and known for his infectious smile, his kind and compassionate spirit. It was his compassionate spirit combined with the strong bond for his wife which led him to care for her in sickness and in health until death do them apart.
Dr. Modaress was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brothers. He is survived by his wife Mary (Azam), his children, Magnolia and Nellie, Mark Manochehr Kasaei, his son-in-law, granddaughters, Kayla and Sarah Kasaei. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, February 28th, 2020 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Avenue at noon with reception after the ceremony.
