Ronald Wayne Stitt Jr. M.D., died Friday, March 16, 2018 of a sudden cardiac event. Ron was born in Kansas City on January 27, 1949 to Ronald Wayne Stitt Sr. M.D. and Kathryn Louise Stitt (née Pees). Ron was a lifelong resident of Kansas City where he practiced orthopedic surgery for more than 43 years. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Kansas in 1975. He attended medical school at the University of Kansas Medical Center Kansas City graduating in 1977. Ron then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center and was Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery. He practiced medicine with Encompass Medical Group for 35 years. While at K.U. Medical Center, Ron co-authored Effect of Corticosteroids on Lung Surfactant Activity in Experimentally Produced Fat Embolism in Rats. Stitt, R.W., Adler, F.; Surg. Forum. 1977. For several years Ron has been recognized as a Super Doctor. Ron is survived by his wife of 35 years Janet Randall Stitt and his sons Michael Paul Stitt and Maxwell Ryan Stitt. He also is survived by his sister Martha Louise Schwegler (Robert Schwegler) and brother Richard Paul Stitt. In accordance with Dr. Stitt’s wishes a memorial service will not be held. A private gathering to remember Ron’s life will be held at a future date.
