E. Floyd Bristow, Jr., 96 years old, died in Cleburne, Texas on Sunday, August 26, 2012. He was born on September 30, 1915 in the Argentine area of Kansas City, Kansas to Elonzo Floyd Bristow, Sr. and Ollie Sharp Bristow.
He served as a medic in the Army during World War II in Italy and Northern Africa, and was recalled during the Korean War.
He was married to Louise Purvis in 1944; she preceded him in death in 1975. In 1976 he married Mert Eldenberg Clingan and she preceded him in death in 2000.
Floyd was self-employed in the apparel business, representing manufacturers of ladies' clothing and selling to local stores in Kansas and Missouri. Floyd was a life-long member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He served as an adult class teacher, elder, and member of the finance committee at the New Haven Seventh-day Adventist Church in Overland Park.
He resided in Overland Park, KS before retiring and moving to Florence, MO. At age 89, he moved to Keene, Texas to be near his daughter and family.
He is survived by: daughter, Sherry Bristow Watts (and husband Joe), of Keene, TX; grandsons Tobe Watts (and wife Michelle) of Crowley, TX and Todd Watts (and wife Julie) of Keene, TX; and granddaughter Larisa Watts of Keene, TX. Five great-granddaughters also survive him: Emily, Laura, and Jordyn Watts of Crowley, TX; and Amy and Jenna Watts of Keene, TX. Surviving nieces are: Barbara Bristow Gray, Colorado Springs, CO; Bev Bristow Snyder, North Kansas City, Mo; and Becky Heubler, Chicago, IL. Surviving nephew is Bill Bryan of California; and nephew Ron Wilke preceded him in death in 1997. He is also survived by: step-sons Mark Clingan (and wife Donna), Florence, MO and Jim Clingan (and wife Sony), Florence, MO; and step-grandchildren James Clingan, Jeromy Clingan, and Megan Clingan Warren (and husband Eric).
