Earl Traylor was born August 31, 1943 in Marion, LA to Willie & Mittie Jane Wayne-Traylor. He confessed to Christ at an early age at Mt. Union Missionary Baptist Church in Marion, LA. He later joined New Hope Baptist Church in Oakland, CA, and Salem Missionary Baptist Church in KCK.
Earl graduated from Eastside High School in Farmerville, LA. He married Corine Harris in 1964 in Farmerville, LA and had two children. They were married 55 years, April 18, 2019. They moved to Oakland, CA where he worked for UAW (General Motors) in Fremont, CA, transferring to the Fairfax plant in KCK and General Motors & Guide Corporation in Monroe, LA where he retired after 37 ½ years. He then returned to Overland Park, KS in 2001.
Earl enlisted in the US Army reserve in 1978.
Earl enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was always a caring person with a warm heart, caring spirit, and a love for and a leader of being a husband, father, working, sports, family reunions, family gatherings, UAW reunions, parties, dancing, joking, etc. He enjoyed being around people, both young and old.
Earl leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Corine Traylor of the home, one daughter Trenia Traylor, Bonner Springs, KS, one son Kevest Traylor, Little Elm, TX, two sisters Evelyn Thompson of Waterford, MI and Diane Traylor of Sacremento, CA, grandchildren: Trenetta Alford, Brandon Traylor, Renelle Traylor, Katrya Traylor and Brittannye Yuto, great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers George Traylor, Grady Wasson Jr., Leroy Traylor, Joe Ollie Traylor and Bervis Traylor and Sisters Clarice Wasson Copeland, Laurice Wasson Conner, and Barbara Traylor.
