Mr. Earl Windisch

Earl Clarence Windisch, 85, passed away June 1, 2013. He was born on June 10, 1927 to C. J. and Belle Windisch of Louisburg, Kansas. Earl graduated from Louisburg High School in 1944 and immediately enlisted in the Navy. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he attended the University of Kansas and married his high school sweetheart, Mary Frances Stone on June 26, 1948. He graduated from KU with a degree in Electrical Engineering with honors in 1951. Upon graduation, he was hired by Black & Veatch where he worked for 41 years, becoming a partner of the company. He was a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Knights of Columbus, SERRA Club, and Missouri Society of Professional Engineers.

Earl loved golf, celebrating holidays with family, and annual family vacations at Table Rock Lake. He was an avid KU basketball fan and the #1 fan and supporter of all his grandchildren's activities and achievements. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary, his sister Marjory Masterson, daughter, Diane Payne (David), son, Paul Windisch (Glenda), and daughter, Gail Odgers. He also leaves six grandchildren, Jared Harrington, Justin Harrington (Heather), Kara Windisch (Jason Baker), Marisa Windisch, Hannah Odgers, and Kylee Odgers. Earl is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Henry Windisch and Bill Windisch.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm (rosary at 7 pm) Tuesday, June 4th, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Funeral Chapel at 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66210. A funeral mass will be held at Cure of Ars Catholic Church at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 5th, at 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, Kansas 64118, followed by a graveside service at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Louisburg, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Earl's memory to the American Stroke Association, Kansas City Hospice House or Cure of Ars Catholic Church.
