Edna Jane Johnson, age 60, of McLouth, KS and Kansas City, KS passed away on Friday, January 4, 2008 at home. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 10th at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 9th at the chapel with rosary at 6:00 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Theresa?s Orphanage.
Edna was born on April 27, 1947 in Kansas City, MO. She was charitable to all and was loved by those that knew her. She married James Winston Johnson on February 11, 1971. Edna was a nurse at the Leavenworth VA for 25 years. She helped raise children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She assisted anyone in need. Her love of children brought her in contact with St. Theresa?s Orphanage in Croatia and she became a contributor. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Survivors include her husband of 37 years, James Winston Johnson; her children, Paul and Wendy (Cunningham) Martinez, Lawrence, KS, Roger and Billie (Cunningham) Collins, Iola, KS, Rosemary Johnson, Kansas City, KS and Winston and Nancy Johnson, McLouth, KS; nine grandchildren, Brandon and James Newman, Courtney, Kristofer and Darci Collins, Tiffanie and Johnathan Rhoads, Joseph Lewis and Felicity Parker; and three great grandchildren, Rebecca Mareska and Madison and Cameron Newman. She is also survived by five sisters, one brother, and many nieces and nephews.
