Edna E. “Beth” Stewart, 86, Overland Park, passed away December 11, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. A visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Monday, December 13, 2010 also at the chapel. Interment will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Methodist Church, 6422 Santa Fe Dr., Overland Park, Kansas 66204. Beth was born June 20, 1924 in Eldin, Iowa to Roy and Mildred Hopkins. She grew up in Trenton, Missouri and moved to Kansas City, Kansas graduating from Wyandotte High School. She was married to William Stewart on November 15, 1945. Together they raised four children. Beth worked in the real estate business and was also an admitting clerk at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in the Emergency Room. She was an active member of St. Mark’s Methodist Church and volunteered for various charitable organizations through the church. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Bill; children, David (Mary) Stewart, Rick Stewart, Terry (Mark) Szymanski, and Lisa (Greg) Barrett; 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; sister, Edith Emigh; and brother, Charles Hopkins.
