Edward Lawrence Bowers,73, of Kansas City, MO passed away December 24, 2006 at St Joseph Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2006 at D. W. Newcomer's Sons Longview Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Longview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2005 at the funeral home.
Edward was born April 11, 1933, in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Central High School in 1952. Edward was a journeyman printer with the Typographical Union, Local #80. He worked at the Kansas City Times, Vile Goller Fine Arts, Stanlye Type, and Brown White Lowell Press. Later he was self employed with B&B Printing, and Tuf Service and Supply, retiring in 1998 from Haas Realty Company.
Edward had two major changes in his life, one was when , after his search for the correct way to worship his creator, he became one of Jehovah's Witnesses, in 1960. The second one was when he changed bachelorhood and married his wife Patricia Kay Mulvaney on january 27, 1962.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Charles Bowers and one brother Billy.
Edward is survived by his wife, Patricia, of the home, two daughters: Pamely Kay Schwark of Belton, MO and Jill Patrice Davolt of Lee's Summit, MO, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, one brother, Jack M. Bowers, Stillwell, KS, several nieces and nephews and many, many, friends.
Anyone who knew Edward knew that he was a hard worker, was very devoted to his family and could always make you laugh.
Ed was a member of The Red Bridge Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for 44 years and served as an active minister until the end. His strong faith kept him alive and active long past his physical time. He will always be a part of his family's life, and will remain in the memory of his creator, Jehovah.
