Edward A. Horn Jr., 92, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away on March 10, 2010, at the Forum of Overland Park. He was a longtime member of Cure' or Ars Catholic Church. Ed was born in La Crosse, Wis., on September 23, 1917, to Edward A. Horn Sr. and Hazel K. (Clark) Horn of La Crosse, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Central High School in La Crosse and attended universities in La Crosse and Madison, Wis. He enlisted in the Army Signal Corps in October 1942 and was assigned to the 5th Aircraft Maintenance Unit (Floating), where he spent a year and a half island-hopping in the Central and South Pacific. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in March 1946, when he joined AT&T in Eau Claire, Wis. He retired from AT&T in May 1981 as regional personnel supervisor in Kansas City. Ed spend many years volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Boy Scouts, American Red Cross, tutoring elementary school children and tutoring for the GED program. He enjoyed tennis, golf, bowling and fishing. He was a Telephone Pioneer. He leaves his wife Evelyn, married 65 years; son James Horn (Pam Wolff); daughter Barbara Ebner (Larry); grandchildren Michael Ebner (Lori), Margaret Siegel (Steven), Cady Horn and Tom Horn. He also leaves three great grandchildren, Blake Ebner, Nate Ebner and Rylee Siegel. Services will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Catholic Charities.
