My dear Edward (Stang) age 76 passed away at his home on Saturday evening, October 29, 2022.
Ed was born May 22, 1946 in Marysville, Kansas to Helen Mae Stang and step-father Edwin Stang. He graduated from Salina High School in 1965 and went on to join the Navy. He was a radioman on submarines during the Vietnamese War and was honorably discharged in 1969. In June of 1971 he met me, Mary Bona Doran. After a whirlwind romance we were married 50 years ago on April 8,1972 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas. Three years later we welcomed our first daughter, Christy. She was joined two years later by Nichole.
Ed spent most of his career in the automotive industry including Sears Automotive, Sun Electric and Mactools. He was a dedicated salesman, sales manager and automotive instructor. After his retirement he became a member of the Smithville American Legion Post and participated in many of their outreach and charitable endeavors. During our retirement we took up traveling. We especially enjoyed many cruises together. When his health prevented traveling we stayed home and enjoyed our house on the lake.
He is survived by Mary Bona Stang, Christy Stang, Nicki Johnson (Eric), his sweet granddaughter, Avery Johnson and his beloved aunt, Sondra Rampy.
I’ll see you in heaven some day, sweetly. Love and kisses, Mary.
