EDWARD MALCOLM STOREY JR., Our loving Dad and Granddad passed away peacefully May 15, 2012, and has now joined his loving wife of sixty-six years, Roberta "Bobbie" - Together Forever. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, with visitation prior from 2 to 3 p.m. at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. The family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice, 1001 E. 101st Terrace, Suite 180, KCMO 64131.
Ed was born May 29, 1925 in Kansas City, MO., to Edward M. Storey Sr. and Rachel Riley. He graduated from Paseo High School. During WWII he entered the Armed Services as a Merchant Marine and returned home to marry the love of his life Roberta J. Vallette on June 21, 1945.
Ed loved big band music. He was an accomplished musician, playing the drums in Kansas City nightclubs after WWII, and achieved the Gene Krupa Drumming Award in the late 1940's.
Ed and Bobbie's wonderful life together included spending time outdoors, barbequing with friends. Ed loved attending Chiefs and K-State football games. They spent their retirement years traveling, their favorite places included Hawaii, the South West and Disney World.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; and a sister, Alice Storey. Survivors include two children, Deborah Neet and her husband Joe, and Edward M. Storey III and his wife, April; grandchildren, Shelly and her husband Daniel, Katie and her husband George III, Holly, Shayne, Malia, Edward IV, and Skylar; and great grandchildren, Hailey, Nicolas, George IV, and Thomas.
