Effie L. Yeates, 87, passed away on February 8, 2018 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 4, 1931 in East Lynne, MO to Charles and Clara Hudson. She graduated from Belton High School. She married Richard C. Yeates in 1951 and they had 3 children together. She retired after 22 years as a cashier at Milgram’s Grocery Store. After she retired, she worked as a house keeper for 33 years until she was 85 years old. During that time she developed many close friendships. She enjoyed attending many activities that her grandchildren were involved in, traveling with family, gardening, and spending time at home. She was recognized for her famous cookies and pies. She absolutely loved dogs, especially Great Danes. She attended many dog shows, developing many friendships, and was proud of her dogs’ accomplishments.

She will be greatly missed by everyone, especially her family and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Clara (Kagarice) Hudson; her husband, Richard C. Yeates; two sisters, Georgia Hodson and Mary Alice Lee; and grandson, Richie Restivo.

Effie is survived by her 3 children, Richard R. Yeates of the home, Ronald L. Yeates (Barbara) of Pleasant Hill, MO, and Rhonda M. Restivo (Enzo) of Paola, KS; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Shirk and Alberta Lee, both of Belton, MO.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, March 24, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Olivet in Kansas City, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, 1500 Meadow Lake Pkwy #200, Kansas City, MO 64114 or Great Dane Club of America Charitable Trust, http://ctstore.gdca.org/
