Elden “Bud” L. Bush, 79, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M., Thursday, Dec. 18 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, Dec. 19 at Hope Lutheran Church, 6308 Quivira, Shawnee Mission, KS. Interment in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to Hope Lutheran Church or Lutheran High School of Kansas City.
Elden was born August 3, 1929 in Wilson, Kansas. Prior to his marriage to Lydia on October 8, 1955 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 2 years. He was later employed by Layne Western Well Drilling and worked at Johnson County Water District #1, from which he retired in 1994 after 35 years of employment. Elden enjoyed working with his hands by doing gardening and woodworking. He also liked to fish. His pride and joy was his family, especially his granddaughter, Megan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Erna Bush and sister, Donna Jean Mantzey.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lydia (Schneider) Bush; daughter, Patricia and son-in-law, Doug Wyatt and granddaughter, Megan Wyatt.
