Eleanor Branstetter, age 97, passed away peacefully in her home at Grand Court I in Kansas City, MO on Thursday, May 3, 2007 with her son and daughter-in-law at her side.
Eleanor was born in Huntsville, Missouri on November 9, 1909. Before her retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper for J.C. Penney in Mission. She was an active member of the Ridgeview Christian Church and its predecessor, Ivanhoe Park Christian Church, in Kansas City, MO for over 70 years. Eleanor was a gracious, artistic lady who treated everyone she met with kindness and love. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William E. Branstetter; her daughter, Joan May; and her brother, James B. Mathis. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Marcia Branstetter of Stanley, KS; nephew, Richard Mathis of Kansas City, KS; son-in-law Kenneth May and wife Shirley of Buffalo Grove, IL; grandchildren Debra Mueller and David May; great grandchildren, Melissa Mueller and Steven Pawlak; and her best and dear friend of over 80 years, Reba Wishard of Raytown, MO.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Hospice Care of the Midwest whose compassion and care allowed Eleanor to remain at home and pain free during her final days.
The family will greet friends at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf at 11:00 on Monday, May 7 followed by the service at 12:00. Private burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, KS.
