Mrs. Eleanor Browne

Karen Eleanor Browne passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2013. She was a long-term member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Kansas City, Missouri and her memorial service will be held at the church at 11:30am on Saturday, October 19, 2013.
Born to Lester and Eleanor Cremieux on January 18, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, Karen was the middle child of three girls born into the family. Karen graduated from Hinsdale High School and earned a bachelor's degree in science from the University of Illinois. She was a creative seamstress with all types of fabrics and shared her talents as a teacher of clothing construction and design at Park University. Her ability to create outfits and complete alterations was appreciated by many.
Karen was an avid tennis player, who demonstrated her skills in several USTA regional and national tournaments. One of her greatest pleasures was winning the silver medal in doubles tennis in the 1999 Senior Olympics. She was also an umpire and professional linesman for college and national tournaments sponsored by Virginia Slims and Kansas City Explorers. Karen enjoyed many hobbies, including bridge, camping, and travel.
Karen married Ronald Browne in 1962 and they enjoyed a beautiful life together for 51 years. She loved and lived for her family and friends with all her heart. She is survived by her husband, Ronald, and their children, Kimberly Carlos (Rick), Sandra Kinsey (Tracy), and Michael Browne (Colleen). She had six grandchildren Erin, Megan, Jackson, Drew, Nicholas, and Steven. She is also survived by her sister Faith Rotan (John) of Barrington, Illinois, and sister-in-law, Cynthia Placek of Schenectady, New York.
