Mrs. Eleanore A. Patton

Eleanore (Ellie) A. Patton passed away October 4, 2010 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Ellie was born on June 29, 1923 in Fall River, MA. to James and Florence Healey. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri after her marriage to Beryl (Pat) R. Patton in 1944. After raising her children, she was employed at Capitol Federal Savings and Loan where she was one of the first women to be named an officer at that institution. Following transfers to Chicago and Baltimore, Pat and Ellie returned to Overland Park, Kansas in 1979 after Pat’s retirement from Borden’s. Pat and Ellie made life long friendships wherever they lived. She loved time spent with family and friends. Her smile and zest for life was infectious and would light up a room. She will be missed by her family and her many bridge, church, golf and bowling friends.
Ellie was preceded in death by Pat her loving partner and husband of 58 years. She is survived by her brother, James Healey and family of Fall River, MA; daughter, Cheryl A. Downs and husband Joe of Kansas City, MO; son, Michael J. Patton and wife Joyce of Kirkwood, MO; grandchildren Elizabeth Walsh (Dave) of Webster Groves, MO, Andy Patton of Kansas City, MO, Christopher Downs (Jenny) of Kansas City, MO and Michael Downs of Kansas City, MO.
Visitation will be at D.W. Newcomers Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS on Friday, October 8 at 10:00 A.M., with service following in the Chapel at 11:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd, Kansas City MO 64145 or Trinity Anglican Church, 3920 W. 63rd Prairie Village, KS 66208.
