Elizabeth Louise Sloan, 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 2nd surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, December 5 at 2 pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9130 Pflumm , Lenexa, KS 66216, in the Stone Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1-2 prior to the mass in the chapel.
Elizabeth was born March 13, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to William Soderland and Elizabeth Schulte Soderland. She and her twin brother were the youngest of five children. She met and married Norman J Sloan on December 22, 1942 and was blessed with five beautiful children. In the late 50’s Elizabeth and Norm moved to Kansas City. She held a number of interesting jobs to help support the family, including the first female hostess hired at the Kansas City Club.
She had a love for music and was never a time you wouldn’t find her at the front of a stage dancing her heart out. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, kind spirit, wise advice, and never ending love for her family.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Norman Sloan, son Gary Sloan, and son in law Mike Marcotte. She is survived by her children, Bruce Sloan (Linda), Norma Boehner (Ernest) Jill Marcotte, and Jan Long (Robert), her twin brother Robert Soderland, eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren
