Elizabeth "Libby" Turner

Elizabeth A. "Libby" Turner, 65, Olathe, KS passed away Thursday January 21st, 2016 at her home. Libby was born October 19, 1950 in Springfield, MO to her loving parents Tom and Claire Hard. Libby grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Shawnee Mission East in 1968.
Libby married Ernie Turner in 1976. They spent 28 years together and enjoyed their times together with their friends.
Over the years Libby successfully operated several small businesses. She was best known as the proprietress of Turner Babb Flowers and her beautiful and creative floral designs. Everyone loved receiving a delivery from her. She took great pride in doing beautiful work to brighten the lives of those receiving her gorgeous creations. Her work was her passion where she made many lifetime friends.
Those who knew Libby will tell you that she never met a stranger. She had an innate gift for making people feel welcome. Libby lived her life to the fullest. Her greatest gift was her generosity with her time, her love, her kindness, her compassion, and her resources. Libby lived every day focused on making the lives of those around her better. She volunteered for the Good Samaritan Project, an AIDS service organization, in the early ‘90s and later served as a Board Member. She was a true light and shared that light, joy and love with everyone she met. She was kind, passionate and loving. You always knew where you stood with Libby-and if you didn't, you just weren't listening. Libby made everyone feel special-but made sure she was always the Queen!
Libby lived her life with grace and love and sass and left this world in the exact same manner. She will be missed dearly by her family, friends and community —but we all have been enriched and changed by the time we got to spend loving her.
Libby is proceeded in death by her loving husband, Ernie Turner and her parents Tom and Claire Hard.
Libby is survived by her three children, Summer Turner (San Antonio, TX), Lindsay Turner (Kansas City) and Shane (Jen) Turner (Salem, OR); her beloved grandson Avery; sisters Helen Jo Baker and Harriett Story, and numerous very close friends.
A Libby-style celebration will be held Wednesday, January 27 from 6pm until 8 PM at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. A committal service will be held at 10:00am Thursday in the Courtyard of Memories Indoor Mausoleum at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
