On Friday, August 17, 2018, Ellen Maxine Chenoweth arrived in GLORY at the spunky age of 92.
Maxine was born on February 17, 1926 to Olive and Mack Fort in Grand Bay, Alabama.
In 1943, she caught the eye of a “yankee” soldier, Robert E. Chenoweth (Bob) who came in to her daddy’s general store to buy bananas. This was the beginning of a life long love story and they married January 16, 1944. Their family began with the birth of their first child Bobby and after the war, they all returned to Bob’s home in Iowa.
In 1951, they moved to Kansas City where Maxine began her career at General Electric and remained until their second child,Marcia was born. She then chose to stay home keeping busy as a wife, mother and homemaker and their family was complete with the arrival of their third child, Kristi.
Maxine later resumed her career in retail sales where she enjoyed working with the public, making new friends and achieving multiple sales awards. In the mid 90’s, she retired from Saks 5th Avenue, and was able to cherish many subsequent years with her family and friends.
Maxine will be remembered as a fiesty, southern lady who enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and…The Bachelorette!
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob of 44 years, son Bobby, and two brothers Ralph and Alfred aka “Toadie” Fort.
Maxine will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Marcia ( Randy) Anderson, Kristi (Craig) Dubois, grandchildren Timothy ( Helena) Anderson, Tyler ( Jessica) Anderson, Austin Anderson, Courtney Dubois, Kara Dubois, Zachary Dubois and great-granddaughters Aliya and Layla Anderson.
