Ellen Glynn

Ellen Wempe Glynn, Leawood, Kan., passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2007, in Overland Park, Kan.

She was born July 27, 1914, in Frankfort, Kan. She married Joe Glynn in 1938, in Frankfort, where they had a Ben Franklin store and later added a clothing store next door. In 1957, they moved to Hiawatha, Kan., to open a women's and children's shop. In 1961, they purchased a family business, which they retired from in 1985. In 1991, they moved to Leawood, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe in 1994, both parents, two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include two sons: Gary (Gail) Glynn, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Ned (Dana) Glynn of Elbert, Colo.; two daughters: Nancy Glynn (Robert Punch) of Leawood, and Karen Glynn (Don Fontanini) of Leawood; four grandsons: Mitch Glynn, Topeka, Troy (Jeannette) Glynn, Sunrise Beach, Mo., Travis (Michelle) Glynn, Sunrise Beach, Mo., and Zachary Glynn Fee (Chody), Kansas City, Mo., and two granddaughters: Paige (Curt) Klein, Topeka, Shawna Glynn, Missouri; seven great grandchildren; five step grandchildren, and 10 step grandchildren, and brother Dr. R.M. (Gen) Wempe, Mitchell, S.D.

Visitation at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Friday, November 2, from 6-8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 8311 W 93rd, Saturday, November 3, at 10 a.m., with burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, Kan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
