Ellery William Eversole ?Hook? of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away Friday, May 23, 2008. He was 96 years old.
His visitation will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday May 28, 2008 and the funeral will be at 12:00 AM following the visitation at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel and Cemetery, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas 66210. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 7611 State Line Road Suite 200, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.
His wife Valda of 64 years, preceded him in death May 26, 1999. Ellery was born July 26, 1911 to Leslie M. and Sylvia A. Eversole. ?Hook? loved the game of baseball and played for many leagues in and around Kansas City for much of his young life. He served in the Navy in WWII. He worked for Procter and Gamble in Kansas City, Kansas for 38 years when he retired in 1970. He was a 50 year member of Prairie Baptist Church. Since retiring Ellery and Valda loved to travel to other countries. Ellery also was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his sister, Edith P. Davis of Prairie Village, Kansas, a sister-in-law, one niece and several great nieces and nephews.
