Mrs. Emily Swearingen

EMILY SWEARINGEN, 41, died from complications following a heart transplant in Rochester, MN on May 27, 2013. She was born in Pittsburg, KS to James Peyton and Eileen McNally Swearingen on July 22, 1971.

She graduated from Colgan High School and Kansas State University and was a huge Wildcat fan. She was employed at South and Associates as a paralegal. She was actively involved with Gift of Life, Inc. She was an ambassador for the Adult Congenital Heart Association. She was an avid golfer. She was proud of her Irish heritage and proclaimed herself to be the "World's Tallest Leprechaun". As an aunt she was known as "Emily the Awesome".

Along with her parents, she is survived by her siblings, Sara Swearingen, Julie & Kent Schaller, and David & Stacey Swearingen; 3 nieces and 1 nephew.

Visitation will be at D.W. Newcomers at 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210 on Friday, May 31 from 5-7 pm.

The funeral will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS 66214 at 9:30 am on Saturday, June 1.
