Emma Marie Flax, age 18 months, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on October 19, 2024. Born on April 4, 2023, Emma was a source of joy and light to all who knew her.
Emma was a vibrant and joyful child who found great delight in the simple pleasures of life. She loved to swing and play outside, especially enjoying time in her ball pit and playing with her beloved dog, Goose. Emma had a special fondness for macaroons, so much so, that her big sister Caroline called her the “Queen of Cookies.” Emma adored Caroline, following and mimicking her every move. Her playful spirit was evident in her love for baby dolls, feeding them bottles, and singing her favorite songs, "Wheels on the Bus" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."
A fearless little swimmer, Emma was always eager to help and be a "big girl." Her love for shoes, her stuffed monkey, the characters Elsa and Bluey, and the joys of Fall: like pumpkin patches and smelling candles, reflected her curious and exploring nature. Emma had a heartwarming habit of giving hugs to those who felt sad, showing empathy beyond her years.
Emma's family was the center of her world. She is survived by her parents, Caleb and Megan Flax; her sister, Caroline Flax; grandparents, Dennis and Kristi Flax, Sean and Rhonda Nashland, Tony and Amy Leonard; along with great-grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends who will miss her dearly.
Emma attended The Goddard School in Overland Park, where her bright personality shone brightly among her peers and teachers.
A memorial service to celebrate Emma’s life will be held at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens on October 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow. Details can be found at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens.
Donations can be given in memory of Emma to the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, to have a swing built and dedicated to Emma. Contributions are accepted via Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. When donating, remember to include Emma Flax in the note section.
