Ernest Alton Trammell, 73, passed away on June 12, 2019 at his residence. He was born October 11, 1945 in Memphis, TN, the son of Joseph Alvin and Emma May Trammell. He graduated from Treadwell High School in Memphis, TN. He also attended William R. Moore School of Technology in Memphis, TN and earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of Memphis in Memphis, TN.
He was a Certified Safety Professional working for Exxon Co. from 1965 to 1974 and he worked for the Hartford Insurance Co. for 30 years, including 23 years as the Loss Control Manager in Kansas City.
Ernie enjoyed playing golf with his caddy, his wife Patricia C. Trammell. Ernie and Pat also enjoyed many wonderful trips to Maui, their favorite place to vacation. Ernie tried to live his life following the Golden Rule in always seeking out someone to help every day. Ernie’s hobbies were reading, sports (Alabama football – Roll Tide, KU Basketball – Rock Chalk), and golf.
On December 5, 1999 he married Pat, and she survives. Other survivors include his children: son, Gregory Trammell and wife Lynette (Courtney) of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Jennifer Oldfield and husband Kevin of Moore, OK; and step-son, John Adams of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Courtney Trammell – Murphy (Kyle) of Sterling Heights, MI, and Skyler, Christopher, Emmaleigh, Cherish, and Bella Oldfield of Moore, OK; brother, Ronald Trammell and wife Dianne of Memphis, TN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Emma Trammell; and brother, Travis Trammell.
A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, with service at 11 AM, on Saturday, June 15, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial contributions may be made to SouthWoods Christian Church, 16110 Metcalf Ave, Stilwell, KS 66085 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
