Erskine E. Ramsey passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18th 2007 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.
Erskine was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 3, 1923. Following his military service in WWII with the military police, Erskine entered a successful fifty year career in the insurance industry. Erskine was a valued member of the Associated Life Underwriter's and the Optimist National.
Erskine is survived by his wife of 61 years, Iona Jean Ramsey (Barger), Four Children: Lana S. McMinn, Stanley J. Ramsey, Pamela J. Rice (Ted D. Rice) all currently reside in Pensacola, Florida and Stephanie K. Annable (Paul L. Annable) currently reside in Kansas City. Three Grandchildren: Lauren K. Walker (David W. Walker II), Kevin W. McMinn (Wynde D. McMinn) currently reside in Navarre, Florida, Kent J. McMinn (Jennifer McMinn) currently reside in Valparaiso, Florida. Five Great Grandchildren: Jesse J. McMinn (son of Kent and Jennifer McMinn), Bailey A. Walker, Delaney R. Walker (daughters of Lauren and David Walker) and Heather G. McMinn, Hannah D. McMinn (daughters of Kevin and Wynde McMinn).
During his successful insurance career, Erskine truly enjoyed helping others and as a result had many loyal clients/friends. For relaxation, Erskine enjoyed Kansas City Chiefs football, bowling, fishing and had a great appreciation for true soulful music especially the music of artists: Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Eric Clapton. Erskine was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who touched many lives and whose presence will be missed.
Memorial Services will be held to honor and celebrate the life of Erskine Ramsey on Friday, May 4th at 10:00 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel; 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas. Inurnment will take place at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens 23215 West 75th Street. It is suggested that memorial gifts be given to Grace Lutheran Church located in Pensacola, Florida in Erskine's memory.
