Esther G. Lovely devoted and loving wife, mother and friend passed from this earth on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Saint Luke’s South Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas after a brief illness. She was 95 years young. Mrs. Lovely was a resident of Overland Park. A private service will be held at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel in Overland Park where she will be interned.
Mrs. Lovely was born in 1920 in Elvaston, Illinois on the family farm. She attended Elvaston High School, graduated in 1938 and was a member of the varsity track team. She then attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, Illinois where she graduated with an associate degree in Business in 1940. Following the outbreak of World War II, it was in Quincy where she met and married Wayne Lovely in 1943.
Through their 63 years of marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Lovely resided in Quincy and Peoria, Illinois, Elkhart, Indiana, Naples, Florida and Overland Park, Kansas. A career woman, Mrs. Lovely worked in a variety of capacities including as a Business Manager, Tour Director and as a Court Clerk in both Peoria County, Illinois and Elkhart County, Indiana. Mrs. Lovely retired in late 1984 and spent 21 beautiful years in Naples. A gourmet cook and exquisite baker, she enjoyed her retirement years in Naples entertaining family and friends, landscaping, taking long walks on the beach and in the management of her household. In 2005, Mrs. Lovely and her late husband moved to Overland Park to reside with their son, Robert Lovely.
Mrs. Lovely is survived by her son, Robert and by the memories of those whose lives she touched, loved and supported during her rich lifetime. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne in 2006, her parents, Henry and Alma Sartorius and her brother, Richard Sartorius.
