Esther West

Esther West (Gran), went to be with the Lord and all her loved ones in heaven on March 1, 2016. She passed away peacefully at Covenant Place in Lenexa, KS at the young age of 94.
She was born on August 6, 1921 in Concordia, KS to Price C. and Mabel M. Huff. She was the second child born of five. They eventually moved to Wilcox, MO and worked hard on their family farm. Esther enjoyed her married life with Raymond I. West while they raised their only daughter Shirley.
She was proud that she worked at Hallmark for three years and at Bendix as a Pattern Circuit Fabricator for over 34 years. Esther was an active member of the Overland Park Christian Church where she often volunteered with a smile. Having five generations in the family was something that she would always be willing to talk about. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, playing bingo, and always had a joke to tell.
She is survived by her sister Betty and Gerald Thiessen; daughter, Shirley C. McGee; two grandchildren, Tonya Booker and Tim McGee; seven great-grandchildren, Heather and Patrick Darneal, Christine and Richard Biggers, James Booker, Becki and Jaron Simon, Austen Book, Abbie McGee, and Jake McGee; eight great-great grandchildren, Aiden, Hunter, and Madison Darneal, Mason and Logan Simon, Alyssa, Zoey, and Isabel Booker.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond West; her parents, Price C. and Mabel M. Huff; her brother and sisters, Cecil P. Huff, Bonnie Watson, and Evelyn LeKey.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 4, from 6-8PM at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. A graveside will be held Saturday, March 5 at 3PM at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Overland Park Christian Church, 7600 W. 75th St, Overland Park, KS 66204.
