Eunice Holloway

August 31, 1930 — August 31, 2008

Eunice Marie Holloway, 78, of Laurie, Missouri passed away at her home surrounded by the love of her family, after a battle with cancer, Sunday, August 31, 2008. She was born January 11, 1930, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Charles Buford and Alta Edna (Wagenblast) Hitchings.

Eunice was of Christian faith. She graduated from Pickett High School in 1947 and St. Joseph Junior College in 1949. After acquiring her professional skills, she went on to enjoy a very diverse vocational background ranging from the medical field to general office work. She loved to work and was extremely career-minded until her focus shifted when she met James J. Holloway.
After a long friendship and a bit of romancing, Jim proposed and Eunice was honored to join Jim?s family, which at the time included his children, Linda Sue (Susie), Michael John, Tracey Anne, and Daniel William, by uniting in marriage with them on August 31, 1963. They added to the clan in 1965 with the birth of their daughter, Marla Marie. Along with her career, Eunice enjoyed convertibles, shopping with her daughters, going to lunch with the girls, reading, traveling (especially to Hawaii), and family gatherings. She retired as a bookkeeper from Neff Printing in 1979.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael John Holloway.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Billye Ann Hitchings, St. Joseph, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Irene Spruce, Bourbonnais, Illinois; three daughters, Susie Buchan and husband Leonard, Phoenix, AZ; Tracey Holloway, Olathe, Kansas; Marla Edin and husband Chris, Gravois Mills, Missouri; one son, Dan Holloway and Christen, Kansas City, Missouri; six grandsons, Kent and Kelly Buchan, Patrick Holloway, Derek and Dan Gable, and Nick Edin; one great-grandson, Jayden Gable; cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her two precious loves, Sampson and Delilah of the home.

Eunice was a loving wife and the best mother a family could have ever been so fortunate to have. She was a wonderful woman of great patience, wisdom, and integrity. We all love her very much and know she?ll be in our hearts forever! Mom, we know you had somewhere to be!
