Evelyn Beryldine “Beryl” Stultz of Mission Hills, Kansas passed away peacefully on August 6, 2014 surrounded by her caregivers and family.
Beryl was born on January 13, 1920 in Kaycee, Wyoming to Beech and Pearl Yeigh. Her father took advantage of the Government Homestead Act and received free land in exchange for establishing a dry farm. Although this pioneer spirit made for great stories, Beryl had no desire to live in the mountains of Wyoming.
Thanks to the kindness and support of a neighbor, Beryl moved to Missouri after high school and received her secretarial degree from the Chillicothe Business College. Armed with a practical education Beryl moved to St. Louis.
Beryl found city life much more to her taste and worked her way up at a local bank. It was in St. Louis on a hot summer evening that Beryl met her future husband Bruce Stultz. The two married and, after the war, moved to Prairie Village, KS where they established a wonderful home in an up and coming new neighborhood.
Beryl loved to be involved in a variety of activities and enjoyed talking to her neighbors and friends. Beryl was a member of the Prairie Planters Garden Club, the Kansas City Rose Society, President of the Shawnee Mission East PTA, and one of the original members of the Village Presbyterian Church and the Homestead Country Club. In later years, Beryl became a successful real estate agent for Caldwell Banker.
Beryl is preceded in death by her husband Bruce Stultz, son Mark Stultz, her sister Phyllis Rosselle, and her brothers Rex and Amos Yeigh.
Beryl is survived by her children Greg and Jeff Stultz and Jennifer Knowles, her grandchildren, Heather Schoneman and Reed Stultz, Amy Tysseling, Winston and Briton Knowles, Samantha and Connor Stultz. and by her great-grandchildren, Grant Tysseling, Elle and Jackson Stultz, Andrew, Katie and Emily Schoneman.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to Brighton Gardens of Prairie Village, Sunrise of Lenexa, and Continua Hospice for their loving care and support.
A service will be held on August 18, 2014 at Village Presbyterian Church located at 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66208 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beryl’s name to the local Alzheimer’s Association at 3846 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208
