Fern Grant Daniels Rector

Fern Grant Daniels Rector, 96, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018.

Fern was born on June 1, 1921 in Lathrop, Missouri to Erstine and Margo Grant. She had a happy childhood in a loving home and was the youngest of four children. She graduated in 1938 from Lathrop High School. After graduation, she moved to Kansas City where she attended secretarial school. She married William N. Daniels in 1947. Fern and Bill lived in Leawood, Kansas and had three children. They were married for 31 years until his death in 1978.

Fern ran a successful sewing business in her home for decades as she cared for her family. The love of her family was the focus of her life.

In 1997, Fern married Alwin Rector. The bride was 76 and the groom was 82. They shared 15 happy years together before Al's death in 2012.

Fern is preceded in death by her parents Erstine and Margo Grant, siblings Herman Grant, William Grant and Phoebe Crockett; and husbands William Daniels, and Alwin Rector.

She is survived by sons Robert (Kim), Richard (Renee) and daughter Kate (David); grandchildren Emily, Liz, Will and Tom; and devoted extended family.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church.
