Floyd H. Mankameyer, 83, of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2006 at his home.
Floyd graduated from Paseo High School before serving 3 years with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He returned to employment with the Hartford Insurance Group, serving in Underwriting, Marketing, and as a Regional General Manager. He retired in 1981 after 40 years of service. He is the past President of the Omaha and the Cleveland Insurance Managers Associations, and also of the Palmbrook Country Club, in Sun City, AZ. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and entertaining. He loved doing his daily crossword puzzles and competing with Steve and Matt on his weekly football picks. In 2005 he returned to the Kansas City area with his wife, Aileen to be near their children and grandchildren. He was a member of Cure? of Ars Catholic Church.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Grace Mankameyer, and sister Marjorie Heinz. He is survived by Aileen, his wife of 59 years, his sons Rick (Charleen) of Shawnee, and Steve (Louise) of Overland Park and his daughters, Janet (Bob) Sherman of Overland Park, and Cathy (George) Kolcum of Amherst, Ohio, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and sister Lucille Brelsford of Topeka.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 29, 2006 at noon, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 P.M. at Cure? of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Rd., Leawood, Kansas. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 6800 W. 93rd, Overland Park, Kansas 66212.
