Frances (Frankie) L. Scott, 82, of Spring Hill, passed away on April 24, 2015 at Sunrise Senior Living of Overland Park. Her passing followed a gradual decline in her health over the past several months. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00pm on Friday, May 1 at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel ,11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS 66210 with funeral services at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 2nd at Johnson County Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her name to the Kansas Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, or to the charity of your choice.
Frankie was born on May 30, 1932 in Lamesa, Texas to Howard and Neva Blackwelder. She met her husband of 42 years while attending night school in Shafter, California and they then married in Poteau, Oklahoma on July 3, 1968 and settled at their home in Spring Hill shortly afterward. She retired from her most favorite employer ever at the Kansas City Eye Clinic on April 1, 2010.
Frankie was a fiery, high spirited red-head who enjoyed large family gatherings; preparing wonderful meals with her husband Roy; spending time with her dearly loved neighbors in Spring Hill; taking road trips (even when she was lost); and spending time with and watching her family grow and succeed in life. She truly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren above and beyond.
Frankie was preceded in her passing by her husband Roy Scott; parents Howard and Neva Blackwelder, her sister Melba Louise Rutherford, and her brother Howard Leon “Sonny” Blackwelder. She is survived by her sister Lona Ruth Rogers and husband Dr. Gene Rogers; her four children, Terry and husband Tom Tepesch; Michael and wife Elaine Cooper, Doug and wife Debra Cooper, and Gary and wife Robin Cooper; eight grandchildren Kendra and husband John Hatcher, Nick, Spencer, Austin, Brett, Jeff, Scott and Ryann; five great-grandchildren Connor, Logan, Shelby, Emma and Ava; and her “second family” at the Kansas City Eye Clinic.
The family is extremely grateful to the staff at Sunrise Senior Living and the caregivers from Grace Hospice for their love and tender care of Frankie.
