Francis Beauford "Beau" Minx, 92, of Olathe, KS passed away at his home on Dec. 3, 2012. Francis was born on Jan 8, 1920 in Rocola, MO to Elmer and Myrtle (Ross) Minx, the identical twin of Charles Clifford "Cliff" Minx. Francis grew up in the early 1930's during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl; his family had no running water, no electricity with only an outhouse on the hill. Beau went to Potosi High School and graduated in 1939. During his high school years Beau and Cliff played on the basketball team, Beau as guard and Cliff as the forward. Together they went to the University of Missouri where they played for the Mizzou Tigers basketball team. In 1944 Beau graduated from Mizzou with a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering.
In September on 1944 both he and Cliff joined the Navy as Ensigns'. Beau was sent to Pearl Harbor in Hawaii where he was in charge of the small arms armory. He received an honorable discharge and returned to the States in 1948. Once he returned he taught mathematics at Cornell University, for a short time. Beau then came back to the Midwest and started working for Wagner Electric, during this time he met Rosalie "Ro" Frances Sullivan and they were married in 1952. Together they had two children, Brook and Allison.
After the passing of his beloved wife, Rosalie in 1983, Francis was remarried in the mid 90's to Patty Maslen.
Throughout his adult life Beau bought, enjoyed and showed American Saddlebred horses he stabled at Brookhill Farms outside of Olathe, KS. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, loved his pets and spoiling his grandchildren.
Beau was proceeded in death by his parents; Elmer and Myrtle (Ross) Minx; step father, Paul Missey; loving wife, Ro (Sullivan) Minx; sister, Lovey Smith; nephews, Glayden and Lanny Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Patty (Maslen); two children, Brook (Barb) Minx, Allison Minx-Walker; brother, Cliff (Mary Ann) Minx; grand children, Ashley Walker, Colin and Mckenzie Minx, and many other dear friends and relatives.
A memorial service will be held on Dec. 6, 2012 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church 5325 Nieman Road, Shawnee, KS 66203 at 1:30PM with a Visitation held one hour prior.
