Francis (Buck) Myrick, 78, went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2009.
Funeral services will be held at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan., on Friday, February 6, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, February 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Buck was born on February 25, 1930, in Leavenworth, Kan. He married Nellie June Hallmark on December 26, 1951. Buck served in the U.S. Air Force as an aviation mechanic stationed in San Antonio, Texas, in the 1950s. After his discharge, he and Nellie moved to Overland Park, Kan., where they resided for 32 years.
He worked for the Gas Service Company for 30 years. Upon retiring in 1992, Buck and Nellie moved down to El Dorado Springs, Mo., into their dream home set out on eight acres complete with a fishing pond. Buck's favorite things in life were spending time with his family and fishing.
Buck will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Nellie; son Gary and wife Rachel of Overland Park; daughter Cindy (Myrick) and husband Tom Terrell of Parkville, Mo.; two granddaughters, Macyn Terrell and Gracie Myrick; sister Doris Thompson of Independence, Mo., and brother Walter and wife Roberta of Boliver, Mo. Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Maude Myrick, and brother Clarence Myrick, Jr.
