Frank Wendlandt, Jr.

March 9, 1925 — March 12, 2008

Frank R. Wendlandt Jr., 82, Leawood, KS passed away Wednesday, March 12th.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15th at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. Visitation will be held the evening prior from 6-8 p.m. at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House or American Cancer Society.

Frank was born May 9, 1925 to Frank Robert and Amanda (Ninneman) Wendlandt in Herington, Kansas. He attended St. Paul?s Parochial School and Herington High School. He went on to Kansas University and majored in business, graduating in 1948. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.

He married Helen Marie Dietzel on December 30, 1948. He started working for Witte Engine Works and then worked for Farmland Industries for 35 years, retiring in 1985. His hobbies included gardening, photography, and music. He was an avid mountain lover. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church and was the past president of the congregation and taught Sunday School.

He was and still is our greatest champion. He was truly passionate about guiding and providing for his wife and family. We will miss him dearly, but he is now with God in a better place. The entire family would like to thank the Kansas City Hospice House for all of their loving care and assistance.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Myrna Michler. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Helen; son, Mark E. (Linda Sue) Wendlandt; daughter, Susan A. (Dean E.) Prochaska; son, Bruce D. (Francie B.) Wendlandt; grandchildren, Eric K. (Lauren) Wendlandt, Julie C. (Dan) Schroeder, Kelly A. (Spellman) Robertson, Michael A. Prochaska, Blair N. Wendlandt, Harrison D. Wendlandt, and Bennett M. Wendlandt; two step-grandchildren, Corey E. Neidl and Kyle B. Neidl.
