Franklin “Gene” Hamp, 75, Leawood, Kansas passed away July 21, 2009. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 25, 2009 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. A visitation will be held the evening prior from 6-8 P.M., also in the chapel. Entombment in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Courtyard of Memories. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to American Cancer Society.
Gene was born January 17, 1934 in Herod, Illinois. He was a member of Village Presbyterian Church for over 20 years. He was Vice President of Educational Credit Bureau for several years in Kansas City. He started the Visa program for Colonial Savings and Loan in addition to land development, from there he went on to be a builder developer for Gene Hamp Builders.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Hamp; mother, Goldie Hamp; and brother William Hamp of Sacramento, California.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Marlene Hamp; three children, Roxanne Maldunas of Brooksville, FL, Lanny Hamp of Leavenworth, KS, and Paul Hamp of Warrensburg, MO; brother, James Earl Hamp, Lincoln, CA; and 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
