Franklin D. Martin
1939-2011
Franklin (Frank) D. Martin was born February 28, 1939 in Olney, Illinois. He was raised on a farm in southern Illinois and was the youngest of seven boys born to Harry and Ella Bradley Martin, Sr.
Frank embraced Christianity early in life and started his working life as a colporteur selling Christian books door-to-door. He had a variety of occupations over the years including jobs in janitorial and food service. In 1971 Frank started his own carpet cleaning business based in Lenexa, KS where he worked until retirement. He always took pride in doing a job and making sure it was well done for every customer.
Frank met Faye Fredrickson, a nurse, in Denver Colorado. They were introduced by Faye's aunt and uncle. Frank and Faye were married June 7, 1964 in Atlantic, Iowa. They made their first home in Hinsdale, Il where their daughter, Alice Fay, was born. A few years later, Frank, Faye and Alice moved to the Kansas City area.
Frank was a long time member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He also enjoyed the fellowship of the congregation at Olathe Christian Fellowship where he actively participated in worship and prayer ministries. He was a prayer warrior for many and will be remembered for his confidence in the love of God and the healing power that God promises.
Frank bravely battled prostate cancer for many years and died on November 25, 2011 in Lenexa, KS. He was 72 years old. His faith was strengthened and deepened during this time. He is survived by one brother, Bill Martin; his wife of 47 years, Faye; his daughter Alice and son-in-law Douglas Guerrero, and two granddaughters, Sabrina and Isabella. He is preceded in death by his brothers Harry Jr, Dick, Bob, Don and John Martin.
Visitation will be held Monday November 28 from 6:00-8:00PM and memorial service will be held on November 29 at 10:00AM.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to members of the New Haven Seventh-day Adventist church, friends from Olathe Christian Fellowship, Heavenbounders Bible Study group, and Crossroads Hospice.
