Mr. Fred Petty
February 8, 1926 — March 26, 2007
Fred L. Petty Jr. 81 Prairie Village, passed away Monday March 26, 2007 at St. Luke's South Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Petty was born February 8, 1926 in Drumright, OK. One night at age 17, Fred took his girlfriend to the movies (at least that's what his parents thought). Instead of a show, Fred and Clara Hartline eloped. Fred's mother said, "It will never last." Sixty-four years later, Fred leaves his wife Clara, two daughters, Susan and Linda, four grandsons, Scott, Stephen, Mac and Jason and three great-granddaughters Kaylee, Grace Clara, and Chloe. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, served as a Commissioner of Brown County, Kansas and spent 38 years as a mechanical engineer in the petroleum industry. Fred touched all he encountered in life with his humble nature and love for family.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Friday March 30 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel 11200 Metcalf Overland Park.
