Fred Preisler, 89, of Shawnee Mission, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at his home surrounded by family.
He was born on January 31, 1925 to Bertha (Pusch) and Fredrick Preisler in Kansas City, Kansas.
He married the love of his life, Phyllis in 1981 where they always opened their home to others and enjoyed a wonderful life together. Phyllis preceded him in death in 2012.
Fred worked for KMBC 9 News as a professional Cameraman for 44 years before retiring.
He was an avid photographer and was honored with multiple awards for his work. Fred was a long time member of Hope Lutheran Church in Shawnee, KS.
He lived a full life that inspired those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Preisler of 31 years.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandy Erickson and her husband Jim and Sharon Steffens and her husband Dennis; one sister Jean Coffelt and her husband Jesse; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.
Funeral Service will be at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS, 66210. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210.
