Freda Gjebre Zeko left us in peace and with love and admiration on September 15, 2013 in Leawood, Kansas to join her beloved husband Fehmi Zeko who left us in 1997.
Freda was raised in East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Levzat & Muzejen Gjebre who immigrated to this great country from Albania before the Second World War.
Freda and Fehmi married August 5, 1956. Her heart never stopped beating for her beloved Fehmi in whose arms she now permanently resides.
She is survived by her sons: Fehmi Jr., Jonathan and Christopher; her grandchildren: Robert, Ryan, Michael, William, Matthew, Maile, Lara and Maya; and her brothers: Washington and Paul.
The objects of Freda's dedication were: home, hearth, family and friends of whom, there are too many to mention. She excelled at everything she did including being wife, mother and loyal friend. She was a master homemaker and friend. She prized people over things, but she understood, with great excellence, color, taste, plants, art and antiques. She had the sense of taste and class that one cannot buy.
She was "old school" but had a sense of independence and confidence that surely impressed all she knew. She had impeccable handwriting, spelling, and bookkeeping skills. She was a natural beauty, with a dynamite figure, jet black hair and absolutely beaming smile.
She was tested at the end in the face of a terrible disease, but she bore it with dignity, supported by a constant stream of faithful and loyal friends and family in whose debt her immediate family will remain always grateful. She departed in a town where, in Lyndon Johnson's words, "people knew you were sick, and cared when you died."
The family will have a Celebration of Life on October 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. at 122 Southwest Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108.
