FREDERICK ROE FREEMAN
Frederick Roe Freeman, age 96, of Leawood, KS, loving and loved great grandfather, grandfather and father passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 in Overland Park, KS. Fred was born in July 11, 1914 in Arkansas City, KS to Agnes Roe and Claude Kenneth Freeman. On May 1, 1936, Fred married the great love of his life, Joy Parman Freeman. They became parents of Sheryl Ann Matthews and Frederick William Freeman (Bill). Fred attended school in Arkansas City, KS, received his B.A. degree at Southwestern College, Winfield KS and J.D. degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Fred was a member of the Missouri Bar, American Bar and the U.S. Supreme Court. He served as President and Director of the Income and Retirement Corp. from 1973 to 1987. He was also one the the founders, and until his retirement at age 70, corporate officers and directors of Jones and Babson, Inc., KC, MO. Before becoming an attorney in 1954, Fred served as secretary- treasurer and manager of the common carrier, Ark Transportation Lines, Inc. Kansas City, MO and as a partner in Freeman Insurance and Real Estate, Arkansas City, Kansas. Fred was also a member of the Second Presbyterian Church of KC, MO. Survivors include his daughter, Sheryl Matthews (Heath) of Leawood, KS; daughter-in-law, Betty Matlock Freeman, wife of deceased son, Bill; brother- in-law, Luther H. Parman; three grandchildren, Michael Freeman Woods (Laura), Kristi Muck (Michael) and Byron Heath Matthews (Jennifer); nine great grandchildren, Camden F. Woods, Alessia S. Woods, Twin boys, Aeddon M. and Bennett M. Woods, Amanda S. Muck, Michael R. Muck, Jr., Jonathan M. Muck, Riley J. Matthews and Parker Ann Matthews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Joy, in 2004 and his son, Bill in 1986. A Private Family Service will be held in the Kansas City area. Graveside services will be held in the Riverview Cemetery, Arkansas City, KS, where Fred will be laid to rest next to his wife, Joy.
