Frederick James Scott, a gentle man, entertaining storyteller, & excellent athlete appreciated for his friendly manner, passed away on September 11th. Fred was deeply loved by his wife, children & stepchildren.
Born on February 12, 1941, to Florence and Roswell Scott in Kansas City, MO. He attended Southeast High School & the University of Missouri at Colombia where he graduated from the School of Journalism. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He earned an M.B.A. at UMKC.
Fred’s marketing & sales career began with Folger’s coffee, & included product development & ad agencies. He eventually retired from Sprint to enjoy the rest of his life with his wife, Carol.
He moved to the Austin area for several years with Carol, & his friendships only broadened. They returned to the Kansas City area in 2012. They were members of the Congregational Church of Austin and are members of Colonial Church in Prairie Village.
Fred is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Andrea (Jonathan) Miller, son Brian (Yuliya) Scott, grandchildren Daniella, Ava & Julia Miller & Ivan Scott, & stepdaughters Andrea (Ken Montgomery) & Marea Beeman.
